WELLINGTON PROPERTY TRENDS
QV’s Residential Price Index for August 2011shows that property values in the Wellington region are 2.4% lower than the same time last year. Values in the region continue to decrease.
NEW WELLINGTON INDOOR SPORTS CENTRE
NOw open the new 12-court sports centre at Cobham Park in Kilbirnie. There are around 40 schools close to the site, many of which do not have their own sports facilities.
The focus of the 12-court sports centre will be on community sports and participation.
The facility includes seating for 1,000 spectators, meeting and social spaces, kitchen facilities, tournament control, changing facilities and services.
BEST PAID ARE HAPPIEST ABOUT LIFE IN WELLINGTON
A survey on how Kiwis rate their quality of life shows Wellingtonians with a well-paid job are the happiest. The Business Council for Sustainable Development issued the results from an online survey of 1066 respondents.
96% of Wellngtonians said their quality of life was good, very good or excellent, the same as in Auckland and Dunedin. However for the "very good" or "excellent" categories, Wellington polled the highest at 68%.
Wellingtonians have historically enjoyed the highest average weekly income, and the city has been trading the top spot with Auckland in the past few years.
FREE WIFI IN WELLINGTON
Wellingtonians will be able to browse, tweet and Facebook to their hearts' content with the launch of free wifi in the central city. The network is available as of 1 September 2011 in outdoor areas from Westpac Stadium to the Embassy cinema, including the Golden Mile and Cuba Street. The new service will see Wellington become the first city in Australasia to provide comprehenesive free wi-fi in the CBD.
