New Zealand Best Destination for Expats

Says a Poll for Telegraph.co.uk (06/17/09).

  New Zealand ranked ahead of Canada, Australia, France, the United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, the United States, and China in a survey of British expatriates who were asked to name the most preferable country for relocation. Of the 12,000 Britons surveyed, 86 percent say their lives are better than before they moved and 92 percent say they are happier, despite the poor economy. The émigrés say the combination of affordable real estate prices, the agreeable tax system, and the natural environment make New Zealand the best country in which to settle. The expats who participated in the study include teachers, engineers, economists, accountants, IT experts, and those working in the financial services sector. Most have seen a salary increase, with nearly eight in 10 expats earning between 50,000 pounds and 85,000 pounds.
